Optimize Your
Learning Curve

Watch the entire video

Think about and recount the process in your head.

  • Then, practice with the video. Here's how:
    • Tie a belt around your thigh
    • Flip cut yarn behind the belt
    • Braid along with the video
    • Learn: thumb and pick up form well

Once you move to practicing on live horses, keep coming back to the video. The better you are, the more you'll pick up watching.

Braiding is like equitation: If your body is in the proper position, its easy to balance to the next movement. That's how we can braid lightning-fast relaxed. I teach a finger form for comfortably and quickly achieving a consistently clean bottom line. That perfect line creates the optical illusion of making the neck look long and round. That's the objective of a braid job; creating the optical illusion to enhance the horse's confirmation. Proper braids are adjustable.

Just like no-one goes from "up-down, up-down" to flying changes in a day, you are not going to learn to braid in a clinic. You'll lean what you need to practice. Unless, you come to the clinic with with your finger form down. Then, we can get worlds more accomplished together. Otherwise: we talk thumb position.

Get consistently accurate with your form. Then, we can work on your bottom line and forelocks. And, maybe even tails. It's much more fun.

Attendees will be expected to be proficient at my form for:

thumb position over cross and knuckle
pick up between fingers for leverage

Heads up: Re-learning a fine motor skill can be tricky. Good braiders should plan on spending at least 3 hours watching and braiding along with the video. The better you are with my form, the further I can take you. And, learning to braid is a journey. Be well on your way!

Thank you!
